Stretch Tent, Nomad Tent, Berber Tent – What’s the Difference?
15/03/2026If you’ve been searching for a tent for your wedding or event in France, you’ve probably come across lots of different names: stretch tent, nomad tent, Berber tent, Bedouin tent, tente stretch, tente nomade, tente berbère, or sometimes tente bédouine.
In most cases, people are talking about the same type of structure.
A stretch tent is a flexible fabric canopy that is tensioned over poles to create an attractive, open-sided cover. The different names usually come from the design inspiration behind the tent or simply from the terms used in different countries and by different suppliers.
Different Names for the Same Type of Tent
In France you will often see ''tente stretch'' or ''tente nomade''. In English, people may search for stretch tent, nomad tent or sometimes Bedouin tent. Terms such as tente extensible are also sometimes used for the same style.
You may also come across phrases like bohemian tent or tente bohème. That usually refers more to the overall look and atmosphere than the technical name of the structure, but in many cases people are still referring to the same kind of tent.
So if you’ve landed here after searching for any of those names, you’re in the right place.
At Fête24, we simply call them stretch tents because it is the clearest description. They are available in a range of sizes, work well at châteaux, vineyards and outdoor venues, and we handle delivery, installation and collection ourselves.
