With a reception capacity limit of 1,300, even the grandest and most extravagant weddings will be comfortably accommodated.

Inside the chateau are two prestigious salons of over 30 square metres each, two function rooms of 250 and 750 square metres, respectively, and an 800-square-metre wine barrel room. As if that's not enough, spread across the site is another 6,000 square metres of adaptable indoor event space.

To the outside, the palm-lined driveway up to the central courtyard in front of the chateau will have your guests in awe as they approach the imposing white-shuttered facade. Lastly, the central courtyard, with its beautiful fountain and manicured garden lawns, is simply made for entertaining. 

That's without even mentioning the pétanque pitch, tennis court, swimming pool, and walking track that weaves its way through the estate. This place really is the créme de la créme when it comes to wedding venues in Bordeaux, and there's even the option for you and your partner to stay overnight in the chateau's on-site gîte.

So what might a celebration here look like, given there are so many options? Let's walk you through a sample event, starting with the ceremony.

Celebrating Your Marriage at Chateau Lafitte

Starting with your ceremony, you have a few options at this venue. Quite a few couples who use this venue for their wedding opt for a religious ceremony in one of the many nearby churches. However, if you want to maximise your time at the chateau, you can also choose to have a symbolic ceremony here.

A couple of lovely, secluded spots within the estate are big enough to host a symbolic ceremony. We recommend the open grassy area just west of the main building complex. Here, you could erect a wedding arch, lay on several rows of white wedding chairs, and have your ceremony next to the world-famous vines. It would certainly make for some lovely and dramatic wedding photos.

Regarding the cocktail hour, there's really only one place you should be considering: the incredible fountain park immediately in front of the chateau. With the fountain as a focal point, you could set up tables of hors d'oeuvres and canapés around the perimeter of this impressive courtyard park and let guests mingle on the beautifully manicured lawns.

An excellent addition would be outdoor wireless uplighting to elevate the event space and create a more intimate feel. You could position some of your lights at the fountain's base to further enhance its impact, followed by a row of lights placed against the walls of the outbuildings that flank the western side of this fantastic entertaining space.

With nibbles and champagne consumed, it's time to start the party properly with dinner and dancing. Of course, several indoor reception spaces are worthy of your consideration here. However, for the purposes of this example, let's focus on the extensive parkland surrounding the gîte accommodation, which is the perfect spot for a wedding marquee.

A stretch tent design would give you and your guests the best of both worlds, providing shelter from the beating sun while retaining magnificent views across the estate's vineyards.

A lovely touch would include stringing festoon lights between the trees as guests make their way over from the chateau complex to the parkland to the east. It will create a sense of magic and wonderment as they make their way to the reception. You could also place some light up letters with words and phrases such as "LOVE" or "LET'S DANCE" at the entrance of the marquee to provide a focal point through the trees in the fading light.

Once again, you can use lighting to your advantage, with mood lighting and soft fairy lights wrapped around the marquee's wooden support poles, creating a beautiful and relaxing ambience. With a large marquee hire option, you will have plenty of room for your tables and chairs, which can be moved around after dinner to facilitate even more room for your dance floor, performance area, and any technical equipment (such as lighting and sound systems) that you may need.

All that would be left for you to do is to dance the night away as newlyweds with your closest friends and family.
