Host Your Fairy-Tale Wedding at the Magnificent Château de Robernier in Provence

If you're dreaming of a genuine fairy-tale wedding venue in Provence, the magnificent Château de Robernier might just be the venue for you. Situated just 40 kilometres from Saint-Tropez, this 400-year-old castle delivers the kind of jaw-dropping first impression that wedding venue dreams are made of. From the moment you wind through its vineyard-lined driveway to your first glimpse of those distinctive pointed towers, it’ll take your breath away long after you’ve arrived. 

We recently had the pleasure of working at this incredible venue (more on that later), and we have to say – this place is something special. With its palm-dotted formal gardens, ancient olive groves, and some of the most impressive marble-floored reception halls we've seen in our years of working at French châteaux, it offers everything you could want for a luxury wedding in Provence.

So, let’s give you a little more in the way of details before running through some of the services we’ve provided at this venue and how you can use our event production skills to make your big day exactly as you’ve always envisioned it.

Exclusive-Use Wedding Castle in Provence Region with a Storied History

This incredible castle is about an hour’s drive from Marseille and a similar distance (1hr 30) from Nice in the commune of Montfort-sur-Argens. It’s in the Var department, which nicely ties into a historical piece of trivia about this place, which is that Château de Robernier (home to one of the oldest noble families in Europe tracing back to the Capetian dynasty) used to own every single inch of land in the Var department, such was the size of the original estate. You couldn’t set foot in Var without being on land owned by the castle.  

Four hundred years later, the estate has been divided and divided again over several inheritances and stands at a much more modest acreage (although still pretty impressive we might add!). It was in the same family for those four centuries until 2005, when the castle and grounds were sold to the current owners. They then began a painstaking restoration while adding elements of 21st-century luxury and modernity. 

As mentioned, it’s an incredible place both inside and out. It features expansive original marble floors and tons of ornate historical features. Yet still delivers that high-end luxury you would expect when staying here. Speaking of which, weddings here have a capacity of around 200 guests, and 15 bedrooms and suites are available, with room for up to 34 people overnight.

Regarding your wedding, there are tons of options and facilities, including the huge parkland surrounding the castle, a covered-on-all-sides gravel courtyard, and a dedicated reception/party room. There’s also a beautiful (and massive!) old-style outdoor swimming pool with stone surround that would make an excellent place for day-after brunches or day-before pool parties. 

Lastly, they offer exclusive use of the venue and only do a few weddings a year (the owners still live on-site). So you’ll have to act fast to secure a date for a celebration in the 2020s! 

Wedding Production Services Supplied to Château de Robernier 

As mentioned, we’ve enjoyed working here recently, providing a range of services booked via the happy couple’s wedding planner, By Joanne Weddings. 

For the celebration in question, we supplied a full-scale d&b audiotechnik Q-series PA system, a black DJ booth (with laptop stand), we provided a pair of Pioneer CDJ2000NXS2 cd players with the matching DJM900NXS2 DJ mixer as requested, we supplied an event lighting package that included monogram lighting (beaming the initials of the couple along the walls of the reception dinner room which added a really nice personal touch). And then placed Suntrips across the back of the stage with our LED700 BSW moving heads & our Helix hybrid fixtures, add a haze machine & boom! The results looked amazing.

But of course, that’s merely a fraction of what we can offer. So, let’s quickly run through some ideas with you, starting with the ceremony. We think there’s only one place to tie the knot at this incredible venue: outside. There are acres upon acres to choose from, with plenty of beautiful centuries-old trees to use as a focal point. Or you could use the open courtyard at the front with the grand and imposing château in the background with a floral wedding arch providing a backdrop for exchanging your vows. 

We recommend hosting the cocktail hour in the inner courtyard. It’s completely enclosed and is well set up for mingling with perhaps a small sound system setup or a couple of live performers supported by a technician one site to take care of all the AV tasks, we also stock a high very high range of Backline Equipment for those having booked a live act & need to rent the music instruments in such as drums, keyboards to guitar & bass amps We also feel that festoon lights here are a must, and would look great at sunset and beyond. 

The dedicated indoor event space is very well suited for the reception, dinner, and dancing, and it’s where we have set up all of our equipment before. That said, there’s nothing to stop you from continuing your party in the courtyard (particularly if it's a summer wedding) or even hiring a stretch tent and returning to the castle grounds to eat, drink, and dance the night away. You’re certainly not short of options.
