A few months ago, we had the absolute pleasure of supplying our services to a wedding held at the gorgeous Domaine de la Fauconnie. It’s a venue that’s long been on our wish list, so when we got the call from one of our favourite wedding planners, Perfect Day by Karen, we were thrilled to be heading up the road to this incredible wedding venue. 

We supplied a range of services and had to set up and take down our equipment not once, not twice, but THREE times. It’s fair to say it was a busy occasion for us, so let’s tell you all about it!

British Wedding Held at Stunning Domaine de la Fauconnie

Before we discuss the specifics of this event's brief, it’s worth telling you a little more about this stunning location in case you're planning your own French destination wedding shortly and are looking at potential venues.

Just 15 minutes by car from Bergerac, the main building is as much a castle as it is a farmhouse, with its ivy-covered appearance giving it a fairytale vibe. Despite outward appearances, everything is incredibly modern. There’s plenty of contemporary and luxurious accommodation for wedding guests, a stunning swimming pool terrace worthy of a high-end hotel, and a purpose-built events space made primarily from glass. 

There are also at least three places where you can enjoy a beautiful outdoor ceremony, including a small decking area with a metal pergola (which can double as a wedding arch) or a wooden open-sided gazebo, which gives you protection from the elements (both from excessive heat or potential rain). But the grounds are so vast you can pretty much make any spot your own to exchange your symbolic vows. 

We were utterly taken aback by just how amazing and unique this venue was. Everything has been thought of and provided for, and we thoroughly recommend it to couples looking at wedding venues in the South of France.

Okay, that’s enough about the venue. Now, it’s time to run you through what we provided to Karen (and, by extension, the happy couple) for this lovely occasion. 

The first brief was for the ceremony itself. Our job was to provide backline equipment for the ceremony. We supplied, installed, and mixed an 88-key Nord Stage 3 keyboard, 2 X Shure UR2 wireless microphones for the singers along with a pair of Sennheiser G4 in-ear monitors for each.

On the sound side, we utilised our d&b audiotechnik series PA system. More specifically, we opted for a Q7 and Qsub combination. Mixing was handled through a Midas M32R digital mixing desk and a DL32 for control. 

For reference, the ceremony took place on a wooden platform outside with amazing weather!. The second outdoor wedding ceremony area was to double as the performance area for the musicians and singers during the cocktail hour, so we quickly and efficiently packed everything up at the conclusion of the ceremony and rushed everything across (professionally, of course) to the next location.

Once that was over, it was time for our third move of the day: into L’Orangerie, the stunning on-site events space constructed of glass and steel, complete with three incredible chandeliers. Again, broadly, it was the same setup, with a few tweaks for the evening entertainment, including some wedding lighting, and we were finished for the day.

Phew! That was a lot of work to get through, but we did it with aplomb, and we were thrilled with the feedback we received from Karen's team and the couple themselves. It’s not unusual for us to move setups that many times for one celebration, but like all events, planning is key to ensure a seamless celebration. As for the venue, we can’t wait to be back, with some bookings already in place for the 2025/26 wedding season.
