Fête24 Provides Wedding Event Production Services to a Dreamy Hilltop Wedding in Dordogne

For those yet to experience the splendour of Chateau de Rouffillac, it really is something to behold. Set on the top of a hill directly overlooking the Dordogne River and surrounding valley, this medieval castle is as romantic as it is historic.

The building can be seen from miles around, with original ramparts, turrets, and walls remaining intact despite being hundreds of years old (some parts of the castle date back to the 11th century!). There are also ruins of an old Roman chapel within the 100 acres of woodland on the private estate.

Despite its storied history (it also served as a soldier base during the Hundred Years’ War), its modern comforts make it an excellent events venue, including an outdoor swimming pool, modern terraces, formal gardens, and well-appointed accommodation for 20 guests.

We’ve wanted to work at this incredible venue for a while, and that’s why we were so thrilled to be asked by leading wedding planner Karen (owner/operator of Perfect Day by Karen) to provide a whole suite of event production equipment and services to a wedding event hosted here.

So, let’s dive in and tell you all about our work on this spectacular event.

PA System Hire Provided to Wedding Event at Hilltop Chateau in Périgord Noir Region

The first area we got to work in was down in the meticulously cared for gardens. This was the location the couple had chosen for the wedding ceremony (who could blame them given the stunning views on offer!), and our job involved looking after the sound for the ceremony.

For this task, we went for a small RCF 732-A PA system paired with a handheld wireless mic, which gave more than enough power for everyone to hear the proceedings without issue. We complemented this PA system with another small sound system for the couple and their guests to enjoy in the pool party/chill-out zone.

However, these setups were relatively small fry by our standards, so let’s look at what we supplied for the “main event” of the wedding reception.

The reception area was in one of the many secluded courtyards, and it was here that we set up our third equipment location. For the sound aspect, we supplied a pair of d&b audiotechnik Q7 mid top speakers and a corresponding set of Q series subs.

For the DJ equipment, we received the specification request from the DJ and had no problems supplying and installing his preferred setup. We provided him with a Pioneer XDJ-XZ DJ controller, a pair of UR4 handheld radio mics, and a laptop stand. All of this setup was supported by one of our black DJ booths.

For the lighting hire aspect, we provided four 300w hybrid LED moving head profiles and helix lights on two separate weighted bar systems to drive up the excitement factor around the dance floor area. We also took care of the ambient lighting for this outdoor space with some wireless LED uplighters positioned at strategic points along the perimeter.

Lastly, we projected the couple's initials (these are known as wedding monograms) onto the side of the chateau, something many guests noticed and commented on what a nice touch it was.
