Fête24 Provides Comprehensive Technical Production for Multi-Day Automotive Festival Modified Nationals

Every now and then, we get called in for events that take us right back to our roots, and that's exactly what happened when we found ourselves providing the complete technical production package for a major automotive festival called Modified Nationals run by husband and wife Jackie and Mark from the UK.

It's been a while since we've tackled this type of large-scale outdoor event, but having spent years working car shows and motorsport events back in our UK days, it felt like getting back on a familiar bike.

Multi-day festivals present their own unique set of challenges, especially when you're dealing with multiple performance areas and a mix of live bands and DJ sets. Getting the technical production right across different zones while maintaining consistent quality throughout a long weekend takes some serious planning and the right kit to back it up.

So let's walk you through what we deployed and how we managed to keep everything running smoothly across the entire weekend.

Fête24 Installs and Oversees Professional Audio and Visual Systems to Handle Multi-Area Festival Production

The heart of our setup was built around a proper L-Acoustics system. We deployed their 8 x SB28 subwoofers paired with 6 x ARC’s for the main performance area. These were driven by LA12X and LA8 amplifiers, which gave us the headroom and clarity needed for both live band performances and DJ sets across the weekend. The L-Acoustics was perfect for this type of application & room size with incredibly even coverage, and the bass response from those SB28s is something you feel as much as hear.

For control, we used our reliable Midas M32 LIVE mixing console, which handled everything from live band mixing to DJ changeovers without missing a beat. The M32 is brilliant for festival work because it's robust enough for outdoor conditions but sophisticated enough to handle complex routing when you've got multiple performance areas to manage.

We complemented the main PA with d&b M4 monitors for both DJ monitoring and stage foldback, ensuring performers could hear exactly what they needed regardless of whether they were running backing tracks or playing fully live sets.

Of course, we had to make sure the visual side was equally comprehensive. We installed a 3.9mm LED video wall in front of the DJ booth, which served double duty for event branding and artist visuals. For our DJ equipment package, the Pioneer CDJ3000 and DJM-A9 setup we supplied gave the DJs exactly what they were asking for on their technical riders – proper professional kit that could handle anything they threw at it.

For lighting, we went with a mix of LED pixel bars and 700W hybrid moving head fixtures, backed up by Showtec Phantom 120 wash lights and Strike4 stage blinders, control via our ChamSys MQ80 & for haze we used our ‘’SmokeFactory’’. The whole setup was finished off with a pair of 15W full-colour lasers that really brought the energy during peak performance moments.

This festival was a thrilling reminder of how much we love large-scale outdoor events. Back in our UK days, automotive shows and festivals were the heart of our business, so diving back into this world felt like coming home.

Unlike our usual weddings and private parties, festivals demand gear that can withstand wild weather, handle massive power needs, and run flawlessly for days. At this event, we faced a stormy evening, but our setup didn’t miss a beat—a testament to how far our kit has come.
