While France offers countless options for your special day, Manoir Beaulieu stands out as a hidden gem in the beautiful Charente countryside. With space for up to 60 guests and accommodation for 12 people in five beautifully appointed bedrooms, this venue specialises in those more personal and intimate celebrations where every detail matters. As we’ll reveal later, this smaller venue has a host of features that will make you consider it over larger, more established counterparts. Manoir Beaulieu: The Quaint Wedding Venue That Packs a Punch 

There are so many French destination wedding venues that it can be difficult to know which is the best fit for your plans. For some of you, that might mean partnering with a wedding planner who better understands the local landscape and can match your demands with a venue that ticks all the boxes. However, if you want to do the venue-searching yourself, this venue stands out for its intimate size and perfect blend of modern luxury and authentic French charm. 

We’ve not yet had the pleasure of working with this venue despite only being an hour or so down the road from us. Still, we really like how the owners Lauren and James (who are an English couple, by the way) have set the venue up with perks including no corkage fees, breakfast for overnight guests included, an in-house planning team, and a decent chunk of wedding event production elements included such as tables and chairs and a little bit of lighting.

In addition to that excellent base to work from, they offer you a whole host of facilities that many larger French wedding venues would be jealous of, including but not limited to: superfast Wi-Fi, Amazon Firestick and Alexa that controls Sonos speakers (inside and outside), log burner, library, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor kitchen and dining area, 12m x 6m outdoor swimming pool, wood-fired pizza oven, games barn with pool table, table tennis, and darts. So, just because the venue might be considered “small” don’t let that fool you. It undoubtedly punches above its weight in amenities. 

Something else to quickly mention is that you’ve got the village of Salles-Lavetee just a five-minute walk away, offering a local boulangerie and a bar/restaurant. Bigger supermarkets and shops are just a ten-minute drive away in Villebois-Lavalette. 

Planning Your Perfect Wedding At Manoir Beaulieu

There are plenty of options when it comes to creating your perfect wedding celebration here, and in many ways, it’s a ‘blank canvas.’ You are free to set things up however you’d like, though there are certain spots that couples have used over the years for specific elements such as the ceremony and the wedding meal. 

Given how stunning the venue and grounds are we feel that you should aim to host a big chunk of your day outdoors (weather permitting). You have over a hectare of grounds to choose from for an outdoor ceremony. However, there’s a lawned section overlooking farmer’s fields that most couples use, which can be tastefully brought together with a decorated wedding arch and some wedding chairs. 

After you celebrate your union, we suggest moving into the stunning gravel courtyard (which comes with string lighting). It’s the perfect place for your guests to mingle, sip cocktails, and perhaps listen to live music. We think a small jazz ensemble supported by a backline hire package might be the perfect accompaniment as the sun starts to set.

Then, festivities will move on to the meal, which you can enhance with wireless LED uplighters along the wall to provide the perfect ambience and maybe a set of wireless speakers playing an unobtrusive background music playlist. 

Lastly, there’s the big party to consider. We feel that this is best held in the grand barn, which boasts tons of room for both technical event production equipment and your guests. Whether you opt for a live band or a DJ, there’s ample space for a wedding party lighting array (and stands), a DJ booth or small stage, a full high-end sound system worthy of the occasion, and a wedding dance floor should you want one. It’s another space that lends itself well to mood-setting uplighting too.

Lastly, as an optional part of the wedding package, there’s a day-after BBQ/pool party. If you pursue this, we recommend hiring some wireless PA speakers playing your favourite tunes or maybe another live DJ set to finish your weekend of celebrations with a bang!
